Our research group named “Research Group of Liturgical History” is meant to provide a lasting and secure institutional background for researchers who dedicate themselves to the analysis, publication and evaluation of mediaeval and early modern liturgical sources, applying the approach and methodology of a Hungarian “school” of international significance. The two cornerstones of its infrastructure are (1) the permanent full or part time employment of our researchers, and (2) building a high-profile specialised library with the digital and print-based sources they need for their work. The Hungarian liturgical heritage that is constantly in dialogue with the overall European material is the focal point of our work.
The work of such a research group could lead to the following achievements:
- the publication of critical editions of liturgical sources,
- the publication of practical editions of liturgical sources, thereby cultivating our non-material cultural heritage,
- the historical-comparative analysis of liturgical Uses and types of ceremonies.
